Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER) and experts from tertiary institutions, yesterday, told Nigerians that recent research by the institute, in collaboration with some professionals, indicated that Nigeria’s economy would soon witness significant improvement as a result of proactive measures embarked upon by current administration.
The experts include the Director-General, NISER, Prof Antonia Taiye Simbine; Dr Segun Awode of the Department of Business and Economy, NISER; a former Director, Macroeconomic Department, MFBNP, Mr David Adeosun; and Prof Suleiman Yusuf of Agricultural Economics Department, University of Ibadan, among others.
At NISER’s seminar series held in Ibadan capital of Oyo State, they urged Nigerians to bear with the administration, pending when the benefits of the economic policies already put in place would begin to manifest.
While they agreed that things were hard as of now, the experts said there was nothing the incumbent government could have done because of the situation it met when it took over power.
In a paper titled: ‘Prospects for the Nigerian Economy: 2023 – 2027’, Awode said the outcome of the research was an incisive short and medium-term assessment of the socio-economic impact of President Tinubu’s first term in office .
