The Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action (SPEC), Ajuri Ngelale, has held high-level talks with the leadership of China National Building Materials Corporation (CNBM), a $100 billion-valued company, on potential collaboration with Nigeria’s Evergreen City project.

During a tour of CNBM’s headquarters, the Special Presidential Envoy received a briefing on the company’s cutting-edge technologies, including emissions control infrastructure, and witnessed a demonstration of its decarbonization efforts.

The meeting, which included the Chairman of Sinoma International Engineering Company, Mr. Yin Zhisong, explored areas of mutual interest and potential partnership on the Evergreen City project, focusing on sustainability and ecological efficiency.

Ngelale described CNBM’s commitment to decarbonization as “inspiring” and highlighted the company’s innovative approach to reducing emissions while increasing operational efficiency.

“Arriving back in Beijing early in the morning after a pre-dawn plane trip and bullet train ride from Fuzhou, Thursday was a day of frenetic activity which began with a tour of the Headquarters of the China National Building Materials Corporation (CNBM) by a delegation led by CNBM Group Executive General Manager, Mr. Li Xinhua, in the company of the Chairman of Sinoma International Engineering Company, Mr. Yin Zhisong.

“As the parent company of Sinoma, CNBM is valued at well over $100bn as the world’s topmost producer of fibreglass, gypsum board, wind blade technology, and other critical materials.

“Our team was briefed on the composition and production process of new technologies being produced by CNBM with a historic overview of their decades-long development process across service lines.

“Additionally, we witnessed a demonstration of CNBM’s cutting-edge emissions control infrastructure with a real-time line of sight into all factory areas in dozens of CNBM manufacturing facilities across the globe with a dynamic display of constantly changing emissions values from the entities.

“The company’s commitment to decarbonization was inspiring in its accountability but more impressive in that it equally provides a fresh and articulated pathway to enhanced operational efficiency.

“A significant initial investment by CNBM to modify the industrial process has now become a net-positive source of long-term savings, increased revenues, and ecological sustainability.

“After the briefing, we entered into closed-door discussions – concerning areas of mutual interest with respect to Evergreen City – which extended beyond the time limit. This prospective collaboration requires structured and effective follow-up. Our team will not fail to ensure that the next steps are achieved in a timely and meticulous fashion,” he said.

The discussion, which extended beyond schedule, will require follow-up to achieve timely and meticulous next steps, with Ngelale’s team committed to ensuring progress on the prospective collaboration,” he said.
