The Publisher of 9News Nigeria, Mr. Obinna Ejianya, has called on the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chukwuma Soludo, to urgently revive Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, and other strategic institutions in Awka North, urging the administration to consolidate the developmental strides of previous governments rather than abandon them.

Ejianya made the appeal in an open letter to the governor titled, “Re: Consolidate on the achievements of your predecessors and urgently revive strategic institutions in Awka North, particularly Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu,” which was made available to journalists on Sunday.

He explained that the letter was not intended as criticism of the Soludo administration but as a sincere call for continuity in governance and the preservation of public investments.

According to him, history remembers leaders not only for initiating new projects but also for ensuring that inherited public institutions fulfil their intended purposes.

He urged the governor to prioritise the full revitalisation of Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, by addressing outstanding accreditation requirements, improving funding, strengthening staffing and upgrading infrastructure to enable the institution to operate at full capacity.

Ejianya also appealed for the revival and modernisation of Purity FM, Mgbakwu, describing the radio station as an important public communication platform that should be restored to support information dissemination and community development.

He further called for accelerated implementation of the broader development plan for communities within the Awka Capital Territory, particularly Awka North, saying such efforts would promote balanced development across the state capital region.

“Leadership is often measured not only by what is newly built but also by what is preserved, strengthened and transformed for future generations,” he stated.

While acknowledging that the Soludo administration has recorded notable achievements over the past three years, Ejianya expressed concern that several strategic institutions and development initiatives established by previous administrations, particularly that of former Governor Willie Obiano, had not received sufficient attention.

“Development should never be a relay race where each administration abandons the baton handed over by the previous one. Rather, governance should be a continuum in which every government builds upon existing foundations for the collective benefit of the people,” he said.

He identified Awka North communities, including Mgbakwu, Achalla, Amanuke, Urum, Isu Aniocha and Okpuno, as areas requiring greater government attention to realise the vision behind the establishment of key public institutions.

According to him, the people of Awka North are not seeking preferential treatment but are asking for inclusion, continuity in governance and the fulfilment of promises embodied in public institutions established for their benefit.

Ejianya expressed confidence that Governor Soludo would give the appeal due consideration, praying that God would continue to grant the governor wisdom, strength and good health in the service of the people of Anambra State.
