Kano State Police Command has apprehended seven Spanish nationals and several others for alleged involvement in the hoisting of Russian flags during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano.

Parading the suspects on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Salman Dogo Garba, said the suspected foreigners and their Nigerian counterparts were arrested after an intelligence report.

The CP said 23 Russian flags were recovered along with the tailor who was commissioned to sew the white, blue, and red-coloured flags in Kano.

A group of youths on Sunday demonstrated on various roads in Kano, waving Russian flags in the name of the #EndBadGovernance protest.

He said, “We have arrested six Spanish nationals and 76 others, including the tailor (Nigerian). We recovered 23 Russian flags. We are trailing the sponsor.

“They have been transferred to the force headquarters because it has to do with sedition and national security.”

Meanwhile, about 630 hoodlums arrested for looting and vandalising public and private property during Thursday’s violent protest have been charged in court.

The hoodlums were arrested after joint security operatives launched house-to-house searches to recover valuables stolen during the protest.
