The entire residents of Owode Ajegunle community comprising Ajewole, Ojomo, Agboyi-Ketu among others in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos can now heave a sigh of relief as the Rotary Club of Onigbongbo has completed and donated a N28 million health centre to Ajewole community.
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, represented by the President, Rotary Club of Onigbongbo, Rasaq Salau, commissioned the healthcare centre named “Rotary Healthcare Post.”
Salau disclosed that following the need assessment carried out in the heavily populated community, it was discovered that the area lacks government-affordable healthcare facilities though there are private healthcare centres not accessible to a lot of people including the grassroots due to the cost of drugs and treatment.
“Realising the importance of this facility, we sought for approval to locate the much-needed facility from the Lagos State government, which was approved by the Commissioner. We have a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government and after equipping the centre, the facility will be handed over to the government to supply the personnel and oversee the maintenance.
“My advice to the beneficiaries is to make good use of the facility so that we would always be happy whenever we come here and see the healthcare post in a good state,” he said.Baale, Ajewole community, Omoroga Olaboye Yusuf, lauded the magnanimity of the club and assured that the facility will be well maintained.
He pleaded for the rehabilitation of bad roads in the area including the one leading to the healthcare post and expressed the hope that the government would also look into other facilities needed in the area.
Supervisor for Health, Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Oluwatoyin Oriyomi appreciated the club and advised the entire community to make good use of the facility.
