Fire guts section of Katsina govt House

The affected Government house

A fire broke out yesterday morning at the Government House premises in Katsina State. Fortunately, no lives were lost, but the fire caused significant damage. Several pieces of equipment were destroyed, and an unspecified amount of fuel was consumed. The blaze also damaged the chamber and the storage area for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and related products.

The fire service, typically stationed on-site, was unavailable initially, as they were attending to another assignment. They were later called back to extinguish the fire.

An eyewitness reported that the fire burned for several hours before being extinguished around 6:00 a.m.The incident occurred while the state governor, Dr Dikko Radda, was touring the state’s three senatorial zones to meet with stakeholders on the 2025 budget and community development-related issues.

Efforts to determine the cause of the incident and the extent of the damage were unsuccessful at the time of the report, as reporters and non-government officials were not permitted to enter the premises.
