Kwankwaso queries FG over DSS redeployment, palliatives distribution in Kano

Rabiu Kwankwaso

Former presidential candidate of the National Peoples Party (NPP), Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso has questioned how three Department of State Security (DSS) State Directors were moved out of Kano to other states.

Speaking on his X handle on Monday, the former governor of Kano State warned that such a move is tantamount to breaching security in the state at a time when banditry is on the rise in the northern parts of the country.

“I have noted with great concern that within just two weeks, 3 different State Directors of DSS were posted and reposted out of Kano and we are still counting.

“Without doubt, this is negatively affecting the security of Kano State, he lamented.

Kwankwaso also faulted the federal government system for distributing palliatives to the state claiming that 35 states got their palliatives through their governors while palliatives allocated to Kano State were handed over to APC stalwarts to distribute.

He described such a step as an insult to the country’s constitutional democracy, warning that it would only encourage and drive partisanship too far.

“For the last week, I have been in Kano, and sadly I noted with great disappointment the Federal Government distribution of rice palliative to 35 states all through their Governors, except Kano State in the whole federation.”Kano’s share was handed over to APC stalwarts to handle.

“This is a gross insult to our constitutional democracy and drives partisanship too far.”I call on Mr. President to immediately halt this naked derailment of democracy,” he said

It would be recalled that the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, on Sunday, September 8, said President Bola Tinubu was not satisfied with the previous distribution of palliatives to the needy in the country toward easing hardship.

According to him, Tinubu’s dissatisfaction informed his decision to reconstitute a committee for the distribution of palliatives to get to the needy.

While flagging off the distribution of the Federal government’s palliatives to the needy in the North West geo-political zone in Kano on Sunday, Jibrin called on Nigerians to rally around the President to fix the country as this is not the time to apportion blame.

He stated that the President is working round the clock to enunciate policies toward revamping the economy to bring succour to the people.
