My new album is nostalgic, a call to home – Fireboy DML

Singer and Afrobeats sensation, Adedamola Oyinlola Adefolahan, known professionally as Fireboy DML, has delivered his fourth studio album titled after his name, Adedamola.
  
The Peru hitmaker released the project recently. The 14-track album consists of songs such as Iseoluwa, Call Me, Ecstasy, Hell and Back, Letting Go, Back n Forth, Ready and Wande’s Bop. Others are Change your Life, Obaa Sima, Need me, Yawa, Every Day, and Jon’s Interlude.
   
To achieve the intents of the album, the singer, who has enjoyed huge success being one of 12 Nigerian artistes with over one billion streams across all credits, teamed up with music heavyweights like Lagbaja, Seun Kuti, Lojay, DJ Spinall, and US singer Jon Batiste. The album is a sonic journey that delves deeper into Fireboy DML’s artistry, blending infectious melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and captivating rhythms.
   
According to Spotify data, the music star has built a huge following across the globe, particularly in the US, Nigeria, UK, Germany, and France, where his music has resonated deeply with Spotify listeners, especially those aged 23 to 34.
   
Fireboy DML’s ability to connect with listeners through his music is undeniable; a testament to his songs evoking a range of emotions, from joy and celebration to introspection and vulnerability, making him a relatable and beloved figure among fans worldwide.
  
His last album, Playboy, has hit over 700 million streams on Spotify from fans all over the world since release, with its tracks being added to more than 3.1 million playlists globally in the last 12 months.
      
Speaking on the process of making the album, Fireboy said: “Every single part of me went into this album. It’s so personal, and it feels nostalgic, like a call to home. That’s why it’s titled ‘Adedamola’. I’m excited to share it with the world.”
   
With Adedamola, Fireboy DML is poised to make a greater impact on the global music scene. His unique sound, combined with his undeniable talent and widespread appeal, sets the stage for groundbreaking releases that will resonate with listeners across ages and backgrounds.
   
Signed to Olamide owned and led YBNL record label in 2018, Fireboy released his debut album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps in 2019. His other projects are Apollo (2020), and Playboy (2022). He has since then established a name for himself in the Nigerian music industry, and bagged a plethora of nominations and awards for his craft.
  
Fireboy became the first African artiste to perform on the main stage at the 2022 BET awards ceremony. He won ‘Listener’s Choice’ and was nominated for ‘Song of the Year’ for Jealous at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
