The Adamawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has again reaffirmed its strong support for the results of the recent Edo State governorship election, as presented by the Chairman of the Edo PDP National Campaign Council, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, of Adamawa.
Adamawa PDP in a statement expressed confidence in the results presented by the Chairman of the Edo PDP National Campaign Council, which according to them, showed that PDP candidate Dr. Asue Ighodalo won the election with the highest number of votes.
Signed by the party’s state chairman, AT. Shehu, Adamawa PDP, as noticed in the statement, criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what it described as “desperate and violent manipulation” aimed at undermining the will of Edo voters.
Describing the APC’s actions as “detrimental to democracy,” the Adamawa State PDP warned that such behaviour, if not urgently remedy, could increase voter apathy and erode confidence in the electoral process.
Accusing the APC of engaging in “daylight political robbery” in Edo State, with the alleged convenience of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and certain security personnel, the Adamawa PDP, who expressed dismay at the actions, viewed it as “a serious threat to Nigeria’s democracy.”
The chapter was also observed to have aligned with the views of the PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, and the PDP Governors’ Forum, chaired by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State, who have also condemned the election as compromised.
Stating that “PDP in Adamawa, reaffirmed its support for any legal action the national party may take to retrieve the stolen mandate in Edo State.”

The party also emphasized its endorsement of Senator Umar Iliya Damagum to serve out the remaining tenure of the former National Chairman, by the party’s Constitution, Citing Section 47 (6), which outlines the procedure for filling vacancies, the party-backed governor Fintiri and other PDP governors in their call for the Acting chairman of the party to continue as the party’s leader in line with the Supreme Court’s ruling.
