Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Prof. Tunji Olaopa, has eulogised one of his predecessors, Amb Ahmed Al’Ghazali, who died on Wednesday.

In a condolence message on behalf of the federal commissioners, management and staff of the commission, Olaopa described the late Al’Ghazali as a  thorough-bred and  stellar public servant.

According to Olaopa, Al’Ghazali , who passed on at the  age of 91, “devoted a princely part of his life to the service of the country as an ambassador, and  through the Federal Civil Service Commission, where he was  a two-time Chairman from 2001 to 2019.”

A statement added: “Known for his fiercely guarding against political interference in the work of the commission under his auspices, his era was marked by discipline and strict adherence to the constitutional mandate of the FCSC.

“ Other  achievements of the commission under him  included  the issuance of the first edition of the Guidelines on Appointment, Promotion and Discipline in the Service.

“Al’Ghazali’s memory strongly  recommends itself as a guiding star at the FCSC, as we embark on its reform and build on his legacies of discipline, thoroughness and meritocracy toward bequeathing to the nation an envisaged civil service of world-class status.”
