In a statement issued on Thursday, Rep Kingsley Chinda, the Minority Caucus leader, condemned the barbaric act, describing it as despicable, callous, and wicked. Chinda expressed disbelief at the level of cruelty involved, emphasising that no human with any sense of morality could commit such a senseless and horrific crime.
“As a Caucus, it is shocking, and saddening that the yet-to-be-confirmed murderer(s) who are obviously evil with terrible minds, destructive intentions, and satanic attitudes would carry out such cruel, barbaric, and animalistic actions on a peaceful, loving, and happy septuagenarian couple,” Chinda stated.
He decried the increasing wave of bloodletting across the country, with law-abiding citizens often falling victim to charlatans and marauders who roam the nation with impunity. The Caucus noted that the Abia State incident was a clear violation of the couple’s fundamental right to life and called for the strongest condemnation from the public.

The Minority Caucus urged law enforcement agencies to swiftly conduct thorough investigations and apprehend the perpetrators of the crime. Reports indicate that, aside from the murder, several valuables were stolen from the couple’s home, raising concerns about the true motives behind the attack.
In addition, Chinda appealed to the Abia State Government to support security agencies in their quest to investigate and prosecute the criminals responsible. He also implored the public to maintain peace and allow law enforcement to carry out their duties.
The Caucus extended its heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr and Mrs Udo, as well as the people and government of Abia State, urging the community to remain calm while the investigation unfolds.
