To equip youths with hands-on experience, the Faculty of Communications and Media Studies, Lagos State University (LASU), in partnership with Taiwan, has trained students on content creation, video editing, lighting, and camera usage.

Dean, Faculty of Communication and Media, LASU, Prof Sunday Alawode, said that the two days of practical training aimed to harness the student’s knowledge and skills.

He noted that the training would give the students opportunities to impact their society.
Alawode, who is also Chairman, LASU Radio Management Board, emphasised the advantages of practical training and how useful it was to students.

“With practical training, when you go to the television or any other studio, you can now identify the different departments, equipment, names, and their functions.

“When one is well trained, he knows how to set up a studio for newscasting, drama show, and any other function,” he added.

While urging the participants to leverage the opportunity, he explained that such skills could result in financial benefit for the student.

Chief of Mission, Taiwan Government in Nigeria, Andy Liu, reiterated Taiwan’s commitment to such projects which helps students on their career path.

He added that Taiwan shares the same constitutional ideals as Nigeria, with an emphasis on Freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

“With the great input of educational resources and efforts, we are happy to be a part of the promotion of the student’s professional skills and preparedness for their future careers,” he said.
