Senator Barau mourns victims of Jigawa petrol tanker explosion
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has expressed deep condolences following a devastating petrol tanker explosion in Majiya village, Taura Local Government Area (LGA) of Jigawa State, which resulted in the tragic deaths of 95 individuals.
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed that over 50 others sustained injuries in the incident, which has shocked the local community.
In a statement released through his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau extended his sympathies to the government and residents of Jigawa State.
“It is with profound sadness that I extend my deepest condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State, particularly the community of Majiya, over the tragic petrol tanker explosion that claimed many lives and left others injured,” he said.
He also offered prayers for the families affected by the tragedy and urged for the swift recovery of those hospitalised.
“My heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones. May the souls of the departed rest in peace,” Barau added.
The incident has raised concerns about safety measures and protocols regarding fuel transportation in the region, prompting calls for increased oversight to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
