The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, convened a meeting with former Inspectors-General of Police at the IGP’s Smart Conference Hall, Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja, as part of efforts to enhance collaboration with past leadership.

The gathering, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s goal of fostering inclusivity within the police force, brought together several former IGPs. Present at the meeting were IGP Aliyu Attah (Rtd), IGP Sunday Ehindero (Rtd), IGP Mike Okiro (Rtd), IGP Mohammed Abubakar (Rtd), and IGP Alkali Baba Usman (Rtd), who served as the 21st IGP.

Notably absent from the meeting were former IGPs Solomon Arase, Idris Kpotum, Abubakar Mohammed, and Hafiz Ringim.

According to the Force’s spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the meeting aimed to promote meaningful dialogue and provide an opportunity for past IGPs to share insights and experiences from their tenures.

“The meeting fostered an in-depth exchange of ideas, highlighting the profound insights from past IGPs, who shared valuable experiences from their tenures and the evolution of policing methods.

“IGP Egbetokun acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the past IGPs, doyens in policing, emphasizing that their tenures laid solid foundations for the NPF, with each past IGP playing a pivotal role in reforming the Nigeria Police Force to align with its global peers.

“The past IGPs seized the opportunity to address and share their experiences with the members of the Force management team, AIGs, CPs, and other senior officers working within the Force Headquarters,” he said.
