‘2024 OTL Africa summit to address key industry challenges’

The 2024 OTL Africa Summit has promised to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders from across the value chain in Africa, aiming to confront some of the most pressing issues facing the refining, shipping, financial services, and policy sectors within the industry.

According to the organizers, the 18th edition of the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week with the theme: ‘Alliances for Growth’ is scheduled to take place from October 28 to 31, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos and will serve as a pivotal platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and financial experts to discuss and develop solutions for the challenges that shape the operational landscape of the sector.

Chief Executive Officer at OTL Downstream Development in Africa, Joyce Akabogu, during a virtual media briefing, emphasised that the 2024 edition will strengthen collaboration between industry players, regulators, and policymakers, driving growth and innovation across the sector.

She mentioned that stakeholders from Senegal and a representative from Ghana would grace the conference in order to expand collaborations across Africa. She explained that discussions will revolve around refining operations, LPG, lubricants, petrochemicals, government policies, petroleum products pricing and trading.

“The annual conference has also been instrumental in shaping the entrepreneurial journeys of numerous participants, with many attributing their business growth and valuable insights to their involvement in OTL Africa Week.

“For the past two years, approximately 70 per cent of NMDPRA’s directors have participated in our events, offering industry stakeholders direct access to key regulators. Through strategic collaborations with key associations like the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) and the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), the event has become a strong voice for the industry,” she said.
