Governor Yusuf mourns passing of spokesperson’s son

It was a sad moment for the family of Sanusi Ahmad Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Spokesperson of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, following the passing of his son, Sadiq Sanusi Bature, in India.

Sadiq, a 15 year old, was confirmed dead last week Thursday, few days after he had successful undergone a bone marrow transplant in an Indian hospital. The young brilliant chap had suffered an excruciating pains from sickle cell anaemia from birth until he finally succumb to the supreme call at his prime.

“This morning, I lost my first child Sadiq (Modibbo) Bature at age of 15. He lived as a good, brilliant and obedient child. Throughout his life, Modibbo has suffered from sickle cell anaemia, and had undergone a successful bone marrow transplant this month in an Indian hospital.
Unfortunately, he died as a result of a post-surgery complications in his brain,” Dawakin-Tofa had posted on his official social media page.

The remains of Sadiq was brought back to Nigeria on Saturday and had since been buried on the same day at his home town of Dawakin-Tofa, Kano, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Meanwhile, Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed deep condolences to the family over the passage of the young Sadiq at the Indian hospital.

In a condolence message to Director-General Media and Publicity, Kano Government House, Governor Yusuf described the lost as most sadden, while urging his spokesperson, Dawakin-Tofa, to take solace in the strong fate of Almighty that Sadiq has returned to the fold of Allah’s mercies.

The Governor prayed that the gentle soul of the deceased granted Al Jannatul Firdaus while sought an enduring fortitude for the parents to bear the lost.

Meanwhile, the family of Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa has been receiving condolences and words of comfort from several professional organisations and well wishers during the sad moment.

Some of the groups include the Nigerian Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Kano State chapter, Nigerian Institutes of Public Relations (NIPR), Kano state council; National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Kano state chapter and the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Kano state.

The condolence message by the Correspondent chapel signed by Aminu Garko, Chairman read in parts: “As you prepare to lay your son to rest, we pray that God grants you the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and colleagues provide some comfort during this dark time.”

“As journalists, we understand the importance of family and the sacrifices made to serve the public. Your son’s demise is a reminder of the fragility of life and the need to cherish every moment with loved ones.”

“In this moment of sorrow, we reaffirm our solidarity with you and your family. If there’s anything we can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. May your son’s soul rest in perfect peace, and may you find solace in the thought that he will never be forgotten.”
