Sophistication and elegance are the two words to describe Hassana Duada’s spring/summer 2024 collection. The designer primarily uses monochromatic tones particularly black and white to create her signature four-piece releases. Here are some key things we noticed about the collection.

The Ultra Feminine collection has a minimalist Elegance, the collection has a refined simplicity, with tailored suits, clean lines, and minimal embellishment. This gives it a timeless appeal, making the pieces versatile and wearable for various occasions.

Duada has played beautifully with structured silhouettes, especially the sharp tailoring in the blazers and pantsuits. The exaggerated shoulders, fitted waists, and draped elements in some pieces give the collection a high-fashion, avant-garde edge.

The dramatic draping, the flowing, draped fabrics (as seen in the capes and long sleeves) add an ethereal and bold touch to the otherwise sleek outfits. This brings contrast and movement to the collection, which helps break the structured pieces and adds a sense of fluidity.

On the Runway, the lighting and the dramatic setting help emphasise the elegance of the pieces. The white tones contrast well against the vibrant pink backdrop, making the collection visually striking in the show.

Having said all that, there are some areas we wished were better to give the collection a greater impact.

Duada’s use of colour was very limited while the black and white palette is chic, introducing some subtle colour variations, such as muted tones like blush, beige, or even metallics, could help diversify the collection without losing its refined aesthetic. This could also broaden its appeal for different seasons or settings.

Another area to consider is fabric diversity, Duada Primarily used materials with a smooth, structured feel such as crepe. experimenting with different textures, like organza, velvet, or lace, could add more depth and contrast to the collection just like her Dusk to Dawn 2022 collection. This would make each piece feel more unique in my opinion.

Lastly, the collection appears sophisticated, it may cater more to evening or special occasions. Expanding the range to include some casual or semi-formal pieces would make the collection more accessible to a wider audience. I wished there was more luxe outerwear or chic separates that could be mixed into a daytime wardrobe.

Overall, Duada lunched a collection that is polished, sleek, and embodies a modern elegance that is perfect for a fashion-forward, confident audience. By incorporating more variety in terms of colour and texture, and perhaps expanding into day-to-night pieces, the collection could reach even greater heights.
