The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced significant success in its counter-terrorism operations, neutralising ISWAP insurgents and destroying key hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area of Arina.
NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa disclosed that airstrikes conducted on November 7 followed credible intelligence reports indicating a large movement of ISWAP fighters from the Lake Chad Basin. The insurgents were reportedly preparing coordinated attacks in the region.
“NAF fighter jets launched precise airstrikes on high-value ISWAP targets hiding under dense vegetation, effectively neutralising them,” Akinboyewa said. Follow-up strikes targeted fleeing militants to ensure their complete elimination.
A previous airstrike on October 30 at ArinaWoje had already neutralised approximately 50 ISWAP terrorists, including a commander identified as Qaid Bashir Dauda.
Akinboyewa highlighted that the operation represents a significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign. By leveraging advanced Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, NAF is committed to eradicating terrorist threats and ensuring national security.
