
The Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) has distributed massive farm imputes to 282 farmers in five local governments in Nasarawa State.
In a keynote address at the flag-off, Governor Abdullahi Sule commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for his renewed hope agenda on food security.
Sule promised to continue to support Tinubu’s food security policy, noting that the VCDP is supporting farmers with the provision of farm imputes and seedlings that have helped boost productivity in the state’s farming sector.
The state programme coordinator, Mrs. Eunice Adgizi FG/IFAD VCDP at the flag-off in Lafia on Friday, said that the distribution is phase one of the imputes of Agric equipment and nutrition-based seedlings to farmers in the state.
“Today, we distribute essential inputs to 282 farmers across VCDP participating LGAs: The items are Fertilizers (NPK: 1,128Bags, Urea: 356 Bags). Herbicides (Non-Selective: 282, Selective: 282). Rice Seeds (8,900 kg),” she said.
The farm equipment includes eight power tillers with Diesel Engine, 60 Solar powered Knapsack Sprayers, 23 Irrigation pump Rice threshers, eight solar-powered irrigation pumps, eight Rice reapers, three mechanical rice transplanters,
17 tricycles with trailers.
“Others are 12 home garden seeds empowering women in our extension services that provide expert guidance, innovative farming practices, and technology that boost yields,” Adgizi stated.
Adgizi said the VCDP is stationed in Karu, Lafia, Doma, Wamba, and Nasarawa Local Government.
