An Abuja-based group, Progressive Youth’s For Makinde’s Presidency 2027, has written a letter to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, urging him to contest the 2027 presidential polls.

In the letter signed by its National Convener, Prince Christopher Odianarewo, Progressive Youths for Makinde’s Presidency 2027 expressed its readiness to support Makinde to become president in 2027.

The group, in the letter which was dated November 22, 2024, hinged its support for the governor on “monumental achievements across key sectors, including health, education, social amenities, agriculture, and security.”

It said given the achievements, it was clear that the Oyo Governor possessed the vision, dedication, and capability necessary for the presidency of Nigeria in 2027.

The progressive youths said the Makinde administration was characterised by visible imprints in agriculture, healthcare provision, educational landmarks, security, and others.

“In the health sector, your administration has prioritised accessible healthcare for all citizens. The renovation of hospitals and clinics and the investment in medical personnel training are all testaments to your dedication to improving the quality of life for the people of Oyo State. Your response to health emergencies, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcased exemplary leadership and a proactive approach that has saved innumerable lives.

“In education, the strides you have made in building infrastructural facilities and improving the curriculum are commendable. By elevating educational standards, you are empowering the youth and preparing them to compete on both national and global platforms. Your drive to provide scholarships and support programs for talented students demonstrates a commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders in Nigeria.

“Moreover, your focus on enhancing social amenities has created an improved living environment, making the day-to-day experiences of citizens more enjoyable. From the rehabilitation of roads to the provision of clean water, your administration has been dedicated to uplifting the quality of life for all Oyo State residents.

“In agriculture, your initiatives to boost local production and support farmers have not only strengthened food security but have also provided employment opportunities and stimulated economic growth. These efforts are pivotal in establishing a sustainable future for Oyo state and Nigeria.

“Lastly, your commitment to security is vital in today’s world. The empowerment of local security outfits and the fostering of community policing strategies under your administration have instilled a sense of safety and trust within the communities in Oyo State.

“Given these monumental achievements, it is clear that you possess the vision, dedication, and capability necessary for the presidency of Nigeria in 2027. Your leadership has not only transformed Oyo State but has also laid down a model of governance that is both progressive and inclusive.”

The group urged Makinde to bring his exceptional leadership qualities to the national stage, saying with Makinde in the saddle Nigeria could transform.

“As the Progressive Youths for Makinde’s Presidency 2027, we stand ready to support you in your endeavour to bring your exceptional leadership qualities to the national stage. We believe that with your guidance, Nigeria can transition into a new era of prosperity, equity, and security,” it said.
