Rotary Club installs Peters as president

Rotary Club of Lagos Mainland, District 9112, has installed the Senior Medical at Randle General Hospital, Lagos, Dr. Olawale Peters, as its 19th president.

He is expected to drive the affairs of the club for the 2024-2025 Rotary year.

Speaking at the investiture/fundraising ceremony in Lagos, Peters, who is a digital entrepreneur, unveiled a comprehensive service projects budget totalling N16.8 million to address critical health, education, empowerment, and environmental challenges.

He announced that N7 million had been earmarked for basic surgical procedures and medical treatments, while N3 million will go toward refurbishing primary health care centres.

He said additional healthcare-focused expenditures include N2 million for a donation of medical equipment to health centres, N1 million for hosting Rotary Family Health Day, and N500,000 for health awareness and sensitization campaigns.

Peters said in line with Rotary’s emphasis on improving living conditions for the underprivileged, N300,000 has been allocated for fumigating the Oko Baba Destitute Home, while for educational support initiatives, N500,000 is dedicated to donating school uniforms and 1,000 branded exercise books.

He said empowerment programmes targeting vulnerable groups, including students, widows, and the physically challenged, are set to receive N2 million with N500,000 allocated for a tree-planting exercise aimed at promoting sustainability and combating climate change.

Peters expressed optimism about the impact of these initiatives, emphasizing Rotary’s unwavering focus on uplifting communities’ development and addressing pressing societal issues.

The new Rotary chief also outlined his vision to restore, rejuvenate, and re-strategise the club for greater effectiveness, reigniting passion and commitment among members as well as repositioning the club to achieve new heights of excellence and rebranding it to enhance its visibility and appeal.
