Following the suspension of three Commissioners by the Ebonyi State government over alleged gross misconduct and dereliction of duties in their various ministries, Governor Francis Nwifuru, yesterday, directed three of his special assistants to take over their respective ministries.
Three special assistants are that of Water Resources, Franklin Ukah, his counterpart for Housing and Urban Development, Patrick Enyi, and Dr Sabinus Nwibo of Primary Health. They are to take charge of their respective ministries as acting commissioners.
The three suspended commissioners are Chinedu Nkah (Water Resources), Francis Ori (Housing and Urban Development), and Dr Moses Ekuma (Health). Nkah and Ori were indefinitely suspended, while Ekuma was suspended for three months.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpo, who disclosed these during a press briefing on the outcome of the state executive council meeting in Abakaliki, said that the Chairman of the Council, Governor Nwifuru, directed the Special Assistant on Water Resources, Franklin Ukah, and Special Assistant on Housing, Patrick Enyi, to temporarily take charge of their respective ministries.
The commissioner said the directive, according to the governor, was to ensure that the business of governance does not suffer in the absence of the suspended Commissioners.
