
The Agoro family of Lagos recently held an 8-day Fidau prayer and burial ceremony for their patriarch, Pa Chief Funsho Braimoh Agoro, who passed away on November 16, 2024, at the age of 105.
The well-attended event brought together prominent figures in the society.
Pa Agoro’s youngest son, Mr. Ibraheem Olatunbosi Agoro, provided insights into his father’s inspiring life journey, narrating how he began his career at the Nigerian Railway, where Pa Agoro served for over 35 years before venturing into entrepreneurship, including cement manufacturing among other ventures.
Describing his father as a well-traveled, honest and diligent person, Ibraheem noted their close bond, saying, “I will surely miss him, but Allah knows best.”
Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro spoke glowingly about his commitment to humanity while alive.
On his part, Tajudeen Jaiyeola Agoro, the General Secretary of the Ojon Chieftaincy Family and a former Lagos State House of Assembly member, described his late uncle as a deeply religious and impactful figure.
He recounted how the father of the late Pa Funsho Agoro, Alhaji Sheriff Yusuf Agoro, introduced Ahmadiyya Movement to Nigeria in 1916, highlighting the family’s contributions to Islam.
Tajudeen also narrated how Pa Agoro’s guidance helped his political career. He said: “I remember when I was elected as a member of the Lagos State House Assembly in 1999, he gave me a text book that has to do with politics. I read it and discovered a lot of valuable guidance that has guided me in my life to continue to be politically relevant till today.”
The Chief Imam of Ahmadiyya Nurul Islam, Ebute Metta, Alhaji Abdulrazak Bello, praised Pa Agoro for his hard work and generosity. He urged the Agoro family to honour him by initiating impactful projects such as scholarships, mosque construction, and health initiatives.
Bello also encouraged the continuation of the annual “Pa Funsho Ibraheem Agoro Public Lecture,” a Ramadan event that empowered many.
