Residents of Dansadau Emirate in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State have expressed worries over the use of explosives by bandits operating in the region.

This new tactic by the armed marks a new wave of insecurity, posing threats to the lives and properties.

Bello Dansadau, a resident of the community, narrated to Channels Television how bandits had planned to attack Yar Galadim village in the early hours of Sunday.

Dansadau disclosed that the terror group had planted an explosive device along the Dansadau – Yar Galadima highway to prevent troops and vigilantes stationed at Dansadau Town from providing security to the village they intended to attack.

The resident explained that a vehicle stepped on the explosives planted by the armed group and the driver died instantly from the explosion.

“The bandits are now using explosives. They wanted wanted to attack Yar Galadima , a village close to our town, but they know that we will come to the aid of the village, so the bandits planted a bomb along the Dansadau- Gusau highway that lead to the Yar Galadima village,” Dansadau said.

“It was one vehicle that stepped on it and exploded, killing the driver and the vehicle was destroyed completely. It was only the driver that was inside the vehicle. This is the first time we will experience this type of tactics by the bandits and it calls for concern.”
