400-level student kidnapped in Kogi, found naked in Kwara — NSCDC
A 19-year-old student of Abubakar Audu University, Ayangba, was on Monday found wandering naked in Ilorin, Kwara State, after being abducted from her campus in Kogi State.
The student, identified as Fauziyah Muhammed, a 400-level student of Abubakar Audu University, Ayangba, Kogi State, was discovered by residents of Ajegunle-Isale on Egbejila Road. She was reportedly found disoriented and unable to coherently explain her situation.
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) took custody of the victim and provided her with necessary assistance. The command is working to return her to her family in Kogi State.
Muhammed, a 19-year-old English Education undergraduate, was allegedly kidnapped in Ayangba on Sunday morning, hypnotised, and later abandoned in Ilorin. The incident occurred between 9am and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
NSCDC State Commandant, Dr. Umar Muhammed, briefed journalists in Ilorin on Monday, revealing that Fauziyah was discovered wandering naked in the Ajegunle-Isale community on Egbejila Road. Local residents found her and handed her over to an NSCDC officer, Afolayan, who coordinated support for her.
Dr. Muhammed added, “Fauziyah is no longer coherent in speech, suggesting her horrible experiences while with the kidnappers.” He further explained that she was found without clothes, and kind-hearted residents in Ajegunle-Isale provided her with clothes. The NSCDC has been comforting her, and the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has promised assistance, including fuel to help return her to Kogi.
The NSCDC also announced plans to release Fauziyah to a man named Mallam Salihu Aliu, who claimed to be her uncle and had been authorised by her family to collect her.
In a separate case, the NSCDC paraded Abu Usman Soja, suspected of being an informant to kidnappers who abducted three people, including a woman and her two children, in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State, on November 7, 2024.
The kidnappers had demanded a N50 million ransom, later reduced to N15 million. While the mother was released, the children remained in captivity as the kidnappers fled into the forest.
