Excitement As Gov Yusuf Equips 600 Football Clubs With Sport Kits
* Affirms Appointment Of Kano Pillars Board
It was a joyful moment for young football stars in Kano at the weekend, as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf flagged off the distribution of sports kits to 600 football clubs in the state. The youngsters were selected from across the 44 local councils of the state.
Besides, the Governor also presented letters of appointments to Kano Pillars Board members, amid government’s pledge to rehabilitate all the domestic and mini stadiums where the local clubs train.
Speaking during the event organised by the state Ministry of Youth and Sports, Governor Yusuf stressed that football is a lucrative venture globally and urged the youths to explore the opportunity to develop future carrier. He referred several professional players including indigenes of the state who are excelling in the world of football, pledging to support the youths to achieve their dream goals.
He indicated readiness of his administration to extend necessary support to Kano Sports Institute presently undergoing rehabilitation with all necessary facilities to accommodate new admission.
Gov Yusuf, however, lamented the poor performance of Kano Pillars football club in the eight years of immediate past government, and vowed to revive the club for better performance.
Earlier, the state Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso described Governor Yusuf as the most Youth -Friendly Governor in Nigeria as a result of his comments to the development of youth and sports.
