Troops have neutralised terrorists and destroyed their camps in an operation in Zamfara State

Troops of the 1 Brigade, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with Operation Forest Yinzuya (OPFY) Multi-Sector Task Force (MST) and Hybrid Forces, carried out a coordinated offensive in the Yankuzo area of Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The operation targeted terrorist hideouts in Asola Hills, following weeks of intelligence on their activities in the area.

Sources revealed to Zagazola Makama, a counter-terrorism media expert, that heavy artillery fire and close air support enabled troops to advance toward the area.

During the operation, troops engaged heavily armed terrorists, killing several and forcing others to retreat northward on motorcycles. Airstrikes were deployed to pursue the fleeing terrorists, destroying their camps and life-support structures at the base of Asola Hills.

According to a military source, an unspecified number of terrorists were neutralized, while others were struck during air interdictions as they attempted to flee with cattle. Ground forces recovered three motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists.

The operation, which concluded at 4:45 p.m., was described as hitch-free, with all troops returning to base safely after a debriefing.

This offensive is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in Zamfara State and restore peace to the region.
