Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN) has called for the convocation of the proposed National Youth Conference to address youth unemployment and the high cost of food items in the country.
Newly elected chairman of the forum, Chinazam Ike, in an inaugural speech after their weekend’s election, noted that youths were getting disenchanted with the government over the delay to convoke the confab that would avail them the opportunity to discuss pertinent issues.
He explained that the issues include the non-inclusion of youths in governance, non-implementation of palliatives to cushion the harsh realities of fuel subsidy removal, as well as non-adoption of electronic voting by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ike, who is of the opposition Action Democratic Party (ADP) also cited other key issues including insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, local government reform, and return to parliamentary and regional government structures ahead of 2027.
The forum also named tax reforms for regional economic growth and development as among the matters that would preoccupy participants. It enjoined the Federal Government to be conscious and deliberate about getting Nigeria out of the woods.
