Police arrest four over terror financing, seven for rape in Katsina

Katsina State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects for aiding armed bandits who cause unrest in the Danmusa Local Government Area and raping minors.


The suspects are Aminu Hassan, Lawal M. Ahmad, Isma’il Dalhatu, and Shafi’u Adamu, all aged 25, 29, 24, and 28, respectively.

Spokesperson for the police command Abubakar Sadiq disclosed this in a statement.

Hassan, who hails from Dundubus, a community in the Daja Local Government Area of Katsina, was arrested on November 19 during a routine patrol along Yantumaki and Kankara Highway.

He had a black polythene bag with him, where he kept two pairs of military uniforms during his arrest.


Sadiq noted that it was in the course of investigating Hassan that the other three suspects were arrested.

“In the course of investigation, three (3) more suspects, namely, (1) Lawal M Ahmad, age 29, (2) Isma’il Dalhatu, m, age 24, all of Basawa quarters, in Sabon Gari, Zaria LGA, Kaduna, (3) Shafi’u Adamu, m, age 28 of Danjaba village, Soba LGA, Kaduna State, were also arrested in connection with the case,” Sadiq said.

The police recovered 14 pairs of military uniforms and one police uniform, which they had intended to deliver to armed bandits.

He also detailed the arrest of seven suspected rapists following the receipt of a report on their criminal activities at Kaita Divisional Police Headquarters in Katsina.


Salisu Ibrahim, Sabiu Abdulkarim, Nuhu Halliru, Rabe Malam, Hamza Abdullahi, Iliyasu Ibrahim, and Idris Abdullahi were named as the suspected rapists.

The suspects were accused of luring minors who were between the age of 13-14 into a house where they were raped.

Sadiq assured residents of the state that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Sadiq said.
