Court affirms Sotayo as president of motorcyclist union

An Abuja Magistrate Court has ruled that Razak Olusola Sotayo remains the National President of the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN).

The court sitting before Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna ruled that it lacks jurisdiction in a matter filed by one Bobi Julius and nine others seeking an injunction to stop Sotayo as the authentic National President of the Union as the matter remains an inter-labor union crisis.

It explained that the case filed by comrade Julius Bobi against the elected national president lacks substance, and the Magistrate can not overturn the decision made by the rank-and-file members of the Motorcycle Operators Union Nigeria.

The case was dismissed after the defendant argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter, the court then ruled that Sotayo remained the authentic president of the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria.

The defendant’s lawyer Mohammed Adamu stated that the court remains the hope of the common man, adding that the court was able to strike out the case due to lack of merit.

Speaking after the ruling in Abuja, Sotayo, thanked his supporters who stood by him through thick and thin and extended an olive branch to those who wanted him out of office.

He stated that the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria, a new body that oversees the activities of all commercial motorcycle operators in Nigeria, is doing all it can to ensure that the body remains united against the activities of bad eggs.
