APC, Tinubu won’t lose presidency in 2027, says Bwala

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will seek reelection for a second term in office in the 2027 poll, according to his Special Adviser on Public Communication and Media, Mr Daniel Bwala.

He added that the president won’t just contest in the 2027 presidential election, but he will win, dismissing insinuations that what happened in Ghana’s recent polls, where the ruling party lost to the opposition, may occur during Nigeria’s next general election.

Bwala disclosed this to reporters at the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday in Abuja.

He explained that President Tinubu, who is more preoccupied with delivering on his mandate and promises to Nigerians, would not be distracted by the antics of the opposition ahead of the 2027 poll.

“He is very focused on issues that bother the Nigerian people, to make sure that people come out of hunger, to make sure that agriculture brings about the expected revolution, and to ensure that our people can deal with their everyday problems. So, the time for politicking is not yet, and when that time comes, we are going to be ready for everyone,” he said.

He assured that President Tinubu’s performance would surely endear him to the electorate, ensuring their votes for a second term in office, God willing.

“If God gives Mr. President life and health, we do hope that Mr. President will run his course as provided by the constitution,” he stressed.

When asked whether the Presidency is jittery following the recently held presidential poll won by John Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana, Bwala said there was no basis for comparison between the political and socioeconomic developments in the two countries.

“If you have been following events in Ghana over the last year, and if you follow the indices, you will find out that it is not the same thing happening in the two countries as what Mr President is doing in redirecting the economy in the right path. Mr. President is very confident.

“The idea of the ruling party losing the election will not happen because Nigerian people are seeing what the administration is doing. Nigerian people only care about what they are confronted with every day.

“They don’t actually care whether you are white or black-skinned or whatever, as long as what matters to them on their dinner table is dealt with. Nigerian people will always stay with you, and that is what Mr. President is doing. That is why Mr. President is receiving commendation from every part of the country.”
