The Association of Civil Society Organisations in Malaria Control, Immunisation and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has decried the alleged deteriorating condition of primary health care (PHC) facilities in Taraba State.
The observation was made yesterday during a press briefing in Jalingo, as part of the organisation’s GC7 Community-led Monitoring Project for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
State Chairman of the association, Alhaji Tanko Danburam, stressed the critical role of functional and well-equipped healthcare centres in achieving a healthy and thriving society.
He highlighted the deplorable state of PHCs, urging the state government to urgently remedy the situation.
His words: “PHC facilities in Lau, Gassol, Bali, and Kurmi are in a deplorable state and unsuitable for patients. We urge the state government to prioritise the rehabilitation and upgrading of these facilities to protect the health and well-being of the people.”
Danburam also appealed to private organisations, media outlets, and local communities to contribute to the upgrade and maintenance of the healthcare centres.
He also called on Governor Agbu Kefas to intervene swiftly in improving healthcare services, particularly in rural communities.
“This dire situation demands immediate action to ensure better health outcomes for the people,” the chairman emphasised.
