Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu on his emergence as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Ozichukwu, a former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East was nominated at the weekend by Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo to serve out the 27 remaining days of the tenure of Imo State created by the death of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Ozichukwu is expected to midwife the election of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation on January 10, 2025, for a new president-general from Rivers State.

Atiku, in a message by his media office signed by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, expressed happiness for Ozichukwu’s election and the seamless transition that heralded the Igbo leadership.

According to Ibe, the former Vice President lauded the dignity and grace that accompanied Ozichukwu’s ascension, acknowledging the immense responsibility that such a leadership role entails.

He said: “The former Vice President expressed unwavering confidence in the capacity of Ozichukwu, describing him as a man of remarkable intellect and political acumen, fully prepared to shoulder the weight of this noble office with dignity and candour.

“The Ozichukwu I know is a man of great mental fortitude, a seasoned political strategist, and a leader imbued with the virtues of wisdom and integrity.”

He recalled Ozichukwu’s commendable service as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, where his dedication and contribution helped the party foster good governance that continues to evoke fond memories among the Nigerian people.

He urged Ozichukwu to lead Ohanaeze with a spirit of renewal and unity, fostering a dialogue that would strengthen the bonds of understanding and cooperation, while also laying the foundation for a brighter future that resonates with the hopes and dreams of the Nigerian populace.
