The Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, and Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State are to deliver the Al-Hikmah University, Adeta, Kwara State’s convocation and anniversary lectures, respectively, as the school churns out 2,211 graduates in a fortnight.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Noah Yusuf, yesterday, at a pre-convocation press conference, said the events, scheduled for December 31, 2024, and January 7, 2025, are to mark the 14th convocation and the 20th anniversary of the University.

He said that the school is graduating 1,748 students, of which 47 bagged first class, 736 second class (Upper Division), and another 886 in Lower Division.

According to him, 79 students are leaving the school with third-class degrees, adding that aside from the first-degree graduates, the university also has 283 graduating students with Master’s Degrees.

“Among the graduating students are 79 with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, another 79 passed our Post-Graduate Degree (PGD) program, and 59 have ordinary Diplomas,” Prof. Yusuf said.

The don, who mentioned that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abass, and Governor Zulum of Borno would grace the events as both convocation and anniversary lecturers, stated that it is the first time the school has produced such a number of graduates.

The Al-Hikmah fifth VC recalled that the school, which started with 70 students and three faculties in January 2005, has grown to over 11,000 students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and diploma students, as well as seven faculties, with plans to operate from three sites.

According to him, Al-Hikmah shall soon start operating from Atere and Igbaja, just as we have here in Adeta.
