Oyo state police command

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, for allegedly practising medicine without qualification and operating an unlicensed medical facility in the Olodo area of Ibadan.

The suspect was arrested on October 2, 2026, at about 3:00p.m. by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit following intelligence on his activities at Life Is Good Hospital, Olodo, Ibadan.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade and made available to journalists in Ibadan.

According to the police, operatives who visited the facility found Benjamin attending to patients and administering treatments, especially fertility-related treatments, despite allegedly not being a certified medical doctor.

The Command said several items were recovered from the facility, including two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, a stethoscope, a large carton containing assorted medicines and specimen bottles.

The police added that during preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly confessed to practising as a quack practitioner for about seven years despite not being a medical doctor or possessing a licence to practise medicine.

Benjamin was also alleged to have told investigators that he specialised in fertility-related treatment, which he had been administering to patients at the facility.

The Command expressed concern over the potential risks posed to members of the public who may unknowingly seek treatment from unqualified practitioners, particularly in sensitive areas such as fertility care.

It therefore urged residents to verify the professional credentials and registration status of persons offering medical services before entrusting their health or that of their loved ones to them.

The police also called on members of the public to report suspicious medical facilities or persons presenting themselves as medical practitioners without verifiable credentials to the police or relevant regulatory authorities.

The Command said investigation was ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspect’s activities and determine whether other persons were connected with the operation of the facility.

It added that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law after the conclusion of the investigation.
