LAUTECH wins N20m NOA campus debate

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has emerged winner with N20 million at the 7 for 7 National Values Charter Campus Debate, a nationwide competition organised by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

The event aimed to inspire Nigerian youths to embrace national values and civic responsibility.

The grand finale, themed: “Criticising and Dissenting Peacefully While Maintaining Love for One’s Country,” was held at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.

LAUTECH’s representatives, Ayomide Adekunle and Oluwashina Oladeji, delivered compelling arguments that secured their victory over other contenders from the six geopolitical zones.

Representing Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was the duo of Usman Ibrahim and Sadiq Dambatta, who emerged second position while University of Ilorin, represented by Alex Olafisoye and Alex Tivlumun, emerged the third position.

In his address, NOA Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said that the initiative reflects the agency’s commitment to instilling and celebrating our collective national values, particularly among our greatest resource, our youths.

He urged the students to use their platform and voice to become ambassadors of peace, unity and progress.

On his part, Managing Director of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, noted the organisation’s dedication to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder Nigerian students from accessing quality tertiary education.
