In a grand celebration of excellence and achievement, family, friends and loved ones gathered to celebrate the 80th birthday of the founder of Troyka Group, Dr. Abiodun Shobanjo.

To commemorate this milestone, Marketing Edge Publications Ltd hosted an evening of tributes in recognition of Shobanjo’s extraordinary contributions to advertising, media, and entrepreneurship in Nigeria and beyond at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
  
Widely acclaimed as the Father of Advertising in Africa, Shobanjo’s legacy has left an indelible mark on the industry.
   
The event brought together an illustrious gathering of industry leaders, dignitaries, media professionals, and well-wishers, all united in celebrating a man hailed as a legend, a trailblazer, and a pioneering entrepreneur. Through glowing tributes, attendees reflected on his unparalleled impact and enduring legacy.
   
In his welcome address, John Ajayi, Publisher/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Marketing Edge described Shobanjo as a towering figure whose remarkable career has spanned over five decades.
   
“For us at Marketing Edge, we are by this occasion not just celebrating a professional whose chequered career sojourn excelled like excellence, but also crowning excellence at its best. He has been a major source of inspiration and admiration to us all,” Ajayi stated.

The event highlighted Shobanjo’s immense role in building successful corporate brands, nurturing generations of professionals, and pioneering what many now call the “Shobanjo School of Marketing Communications and Entrepreneurship.” Ajayi further acknowledged Shobanjo’s legacy of hard work, resilience, and innovation, which inspired Marketing Edge’s creation 21 years ago.
