Lagos Central Mosque seeks better welfare for pilgrims

The leadership of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has visited the Lagos Central Mosque (LCM) for a stakeholder engagement. The visit by the newly appointed NAHCON chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman was part of strategies to interact and discuss hajj operations.

The leadership of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has visited the Lagos Central Mosque (LCM) for a stakeholder engagement. The visit by the newly appointed NAHCON chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman was part of strategies to interact and discuss hajj operations.

During the visit, the Lagos Central Mosque Executive Council pleaded with the NAHCON Chairman to prioritise welfare of the pilgrims during the 2025 exercise.
 
Speaking on behalf of LCM Executive Council Members, the Baba Adinni of Lagos, Bashorun Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy, reiterated the need for adequate supervision of hajj operations, noting that Nigerians raised numerous complaints against the previous hajj operations.

He mentioned that Lagos Central Mosque was part of the NAHCON hajj committee, set up by Brigadier Shehu Musa Yar ‘adua, requesting that LCM should be reconstituted back into the commission committee.
“Yar’ Adua signed the letter and I still have the copy with me,” he said.

The NAHCON Chairman thanked the council elders and promised to come back to discuss pressing issues concerning the hajj exercise. NAHCON Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofi Olanrewaju Elegushi said that the NAHCON Chairman will be welcoming correspondences from the LCM council of elders.

Also in attendance were Dr. Jubril Oyekan, Alhaji Chief Akeem Apatira, Alhaji Jaleel Animashaun, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, Alhaji Chief A.A. Mustapha, Alhaji Chief Surajudeen Lawal among others.
