
In a special message to the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) community, Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh FNES, FCSN, expressed pride and gratitude as the Yuletide and New Year holidays approach.
“As the holidays near, I am filled with a deep sense of pride and gratitude as I address you—the esteemed members of staff and our vibrant, dedicated students here at FUPRE, Effurun, Delta State,” he said.
Reflecting on the past year, Professor Rim-Rukeh highlighted significant achievements across various facets of university life. “Over the past year, we have made remarkable progress in academic excellence, securing accreditations for our courses and introducing new programs aligned with industry needs,” he noted. “Our pioneering research in petroleum and energy has flourished, and we have expanded our campus infrastructure, establishing research centers that are making meaningful contributions to society. Our students have excelled, earning prestigious awards, and our strategic partnerships with industries have reached new heights.”
The Vice-Chancellor praised both academic and non-academic staff for their contributions. “I commend our lecturers, researchers, and leaders for their unwavering commitment to fostering a dynamic and impactful learning environment. To our non-teaching staff, your dedication ensures the smooth operation of FUPRE, and we are truly grateful for your efforts,” he said.
Professor Rim-Rukeh also acknowledged the exceptional achievements of FUPRE’s students. “I sincerely applaud FUPRE’s dynamic, award-winning students for their outstanding accomplishments and continued excellence. Your passion and commitment inspire us all. As future leaders, you are shaping a brighter tomorrow, and I am incredibly proud of all you’ve achieved—keep shining!”
In his message, the Vice-Chancellor also commended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his contributions to advancing education in Nigeria, particularly his initiatives such as NELFUND and the Student Loan Scheme, which have made education more accessible to future generations.
As the holiday season arrives, Professor Rim-Rukeh urged the FUPRE community to reflect and share blessings. “The Yuletide season is a time for celebration, reflection, and giving. Let us take time to rest, recharge, and reconnect with loved ones. As we approach the New Year, let us return with renewed energy, ready to face the challenges and opportunities ahead,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of safety, well-being, and responsible behavior during the holidays. “Let us uphold FUPRE’s core values—integrity, respect, and consideration for others—throughout the holiday season and into the New Year,” he added.
Professor Rim-Rukeh encouraged students to carry their momentum into the New Year with optimism and determination. “I urge you, our students, to continue your journey with renewed commitment and a shared purpose. Let us strive for excellence and innovation as we return to campus, pushing boundaries and achieving even greater success.”
Concluding, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the entire FUPRE Management, Staff, and Students, wished everyone a safe, joyful, and peaceful holiday season. “May the New Year bring you abundant blessings, good health, and success in all your endeavors,” he said.
