The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) have said they have put measures in place to deliver timely electricity supply during the Yuletide period and beyond in their areas of operation.

The Head of Corporate Communications of EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, in a statement in Enugu, felicitated with Christians in the South-East as they celebrate Christmas.

Ezeh advised residents of the region to avoid unsafe acts that could result in electrical accidents or fire outbreaks, mostly attributed to fireworks and indiscriminate bush burning.

He said: “We are concerned about the well-being of our customers and feel that at this festive period, there is a need to exercise caution, especially considering that we are now in the dry season.

ALSO, IBEDC has congratulated their esteemed customers and Nigerians, especially Christians, on the occasion of Christmas, encouraging them to prioritise safety and use energy responsibly.

The power company’s Managing Director, Francis Agoha, in a statement in Ibadan, asserted that the birth of Jesus Christ symbolised sacrificial love. Agoha described the sacrifice as a virtue that humanity should strive to embody.

He assured customers that IBEDC had implemented measures to ensure network stability and smooth operations throughout the holiday season. “In anticipation of customer needs during the holidays, we are fully prepared to address faults quickly to minimise disruptions in power supply,” he stated.

He also called on customers to avoid energy theft, including tampering with meters or making illegal connections. Agoha warned against tampering with electrical installations due to their severe safety risks, including the potential for injury or fatality.
