The former governor of Kaduna State and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has debunked claims suggesting he has joined the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Social media platforms, particularly X, have been abuzz with allegations that the former governor has left the ruling party and joined the PDP.
“They said El-Rufai is full of surprises, and his enemies always don’t see him coming. If this picture of El-Rufai joining PDP is true, then indeed Mallam is full of surprises because no one expected this. I urge President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani to start writing his handover notes,” one X user wrote.

On Sunday, El-Rufai debunked the claim on his official handle on X (formerly Twitter), describing the misinformation as “patent lies.”
He also threatened legal action against those spreading the disinformation.
He wrote: “Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers.”
