Police investigate alleged assault on lady in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged assault on a lady by officers along Evo Road, Port Harcourt. The incident was reported on social media, prompting the invitation of the victim to the Police Headquarters to facilitate a thorough investigation.

Spokesperson for the command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the command’s commitment to identifying the officers involved and taking appropriate actions.

She noted that the lady’s cooperation was crucial in this regard, adding that the Command has assured her safety and well-being.
Iringe-Koko stressed that cooperation from the public is vital in maintaining accountability and professionalism within the command.

She said: “The Rivers State Police Command has also appealed to members of the public to cooperate with police officers during stop-and-search operations. These measures are essential in combating crime and maintaining security.

“In addition, the Command has encouraged residents to report any misconduct by police officers through designated channels.”
