Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has stressed the importance of Nigerians working together to maintain the country’s unity and praying for its progress, ensuring that the labours of heroes past are not in vain.
Speaking on Friday at the special Jumat service to mark the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, stated: “This is a very critical moment in the life of our country, Nigeria, and all we need to do is to continue to pray and support the leadership of Nigeria.”
He added, “It is our responsibility to support our leaders and also carry out the instructions of Allah on leadership and followership.

“We have survived many turbulences as a people, and this period too will soon pass. Nigeria will attain its greater heights, and the entire citizenry will enjoy the dividends of our perseverance because after rain comes sunshine.”
Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the Jumat service holds significant importance for the government, as it provides an opportunity to pray to Allah for Aljanah Firdaus for fallen heroes and to support the families they left behind.
“It is also an avenue to remind us of the need to always be good citizens of our great country, Nigeria,” he noted.
