Calabar council introduces automated revenue collection system

Calabar Municipal Council in Cross River State has introduced a new payment system for revenue collect and other payments to the local council.

The new automated payment platform is to make payments easier and revenue collection more convenient.

This was introduced barely a week after the council chairman, Apostle James Anam, terminated all revenue collection contracts involving revenue agents, revenue committees and revenue ad-hoc staff.

Chief Press Secretary to the council chairman, Oqua Etim, in a notice, warned members of the public, particularly owners of businesses, corporate organisations, banks and financial institutions, hotels and guest houses, filling stations private hospitals and clinics, private schools, eateries and tank farms among others against all illegal revenue collections while directing all payments to be made through the Remita platform.

Etim warned all illegal revenue collectors to cease from collecting revenue from any of the organisations and revenue heads as anyone caught engaging in such activities will be prosecuted.
