The Global President of the Green World Association for Medicinal Plants, Dr. Ibrahim Dada Nakowa, has emphasised the urgent need to preserve medicinal plants by replanting them to prevent their extinction.
It also highlighted the critical role of medicinal plants in human health, describing them as a divine gift and a vital alternative to orthodox medicines, which often fail to address certain health challenges.
Nakowa, in a statement, decried the alarming rate at which medicinal plants are disappearing due to overexploitation and unsustainable practices but stressed that this is a pressing concern.
Nakowa called on individuals, governments, and organisations to embrace the practice of planting and replanting medicinal plants to secure their availability for future generations.
He expressed concern over the alarming rate at which medicinal plants are disappearing due to overexploitation and unsustainable practices.
Nakowa said: “This is a pressing concern that requires immediate and collective action to ensure the survival of these valuable resources.
“By promoting the conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants, we can safeguard our health, well-being, and the global environment.”
As the global head of the Green World Association, Nakowa reaffirmed his commitment to raising awareness about the importance of medicinal plants and fostering sustainable practices to preserve them.
He urged stakeholders worldwide to take responsibility for protecting these natural treasures and ensuring their continued contribution to global health and environmental sustainability.
