Armed men abduct family of four, injure neighbour in Abuja
Armed men have reportedly abducted a man, his wife, son, and elder brother in Chikakore community, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Guardian learnt that the assailants, numbering seven, struck the Chikakore area of Kubwa at about midnight yesterday.
The assailants stormed the residence of Adefija Michael Akinropo in the community, abducting him along with his wife, son, and elder brother.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the command received a distress call at about 1:00 a.m. on January 27, reporting a case of abduction and assault in the Chikakore community.
According to Adeh, police operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the men, disguised as vigilante members and armed with machetes and sticks, deceived the victim into opening his gate before abducting him and his family members.
“A neighbour who attempted to intervene sustained injuries during the attack and was promptly rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention,” she added.
The FCT Police Command has commenced a comprehensive search and rescue operation to secure the safe recovery of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Adeh urged residents of Chikakore and the general public to remain calm and vigilant. She also called for anyone with helpful information to assist in the investigation and rescue efforts.
