The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has thrown his weight behind the production of a film on the iconic story of the famous Ekiti Parapo War.

The film, which will capture the struggle and triumph of the Ekiti people against oppression, will be produced through a collaboration between the Ekiti State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy and AL Notions Film Company, owned by Nollywood couple, Lateef Adedimeji and Adebimpe Oyebade-Adedimeji.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji approved the production at a meeting in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

The film will tell the story of the war in detail and will be a world-class production.

Oyebode revealed that the project will be fully funded by the private sector and will be led by AL Notions Film Company, the producers of the LISABI epic movie.

“They will be working with a team from the Ekiti State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, led by the Honourable Commissioner of the ministry, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare, one of Africa’s most accomplished Artistic Directors,” he said.

Adebimpe, who hails from Ijero-Ekiti, together with her husband, said they are excited about the opportunity to lead the project and pledged their unwavering commitment. She also assured that the project will be given utmost attention, adding that the output will be top-notch.

The project, which will utilize Ekiti towns and villages as major shooting locations, is expected to involve many talented and accomplished artistes, including those of Ekiti extraction.
