FG increases inmates’ feeding allowance by 50%
The Federal Government has increased the feeding allowance of inmates by 50 per cent.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this in a post he shared on his official X account on Wednesday morning.
Tunji-Ojo made this known after the Ministry of Interior, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), and all agencies under the ministry, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, and National Identity Management Commission, hosted a media parley to interact with journalists, where they fielded questions related to all agencies under the ministry.
“In my presentation, I announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has graciously increased inmates’ feeding allowance by 50% to fulfill his #RenewedHope pledge, even to inmates in Correctional Centres across the country,” Tunji-Ojo said.
“In the Federal Fire Service, we will expedite action to see that the bill before the National Assembly is passed to see our fire service serve as a regulator, enumerator, and operator.”
On the ministry’s plans for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), he said they will leverage technology to enhance their operations while empowering the officers, especially those in the Special Intelligence Guard, Safe School Initiative, Female Squad, and Mining Marshal.
He expressed happiness to see the interior ministry launch the centralization of passport production in the country, as well as the expansion of contactless biometric solutions beyond Canada.
The minister added that in 2025, the reforms will continue, as well as see new directions across the board.
