FG keen on centralising passport production in Nigeria – Minister

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said that the Federal Government is keen on centralising passport production in Nigeria

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said that the Federal Government is keen on centralising passport production in Nigeria.

Tunji-Ojo said this in a statement on Wednesday night following his meeting with top officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

“In the heart of our government is the people because they make up the critical component of the nation without which there will be no government,” he wrote on X.

The minister said it is, therefore, a matter of priority to constantly think about how to serve the people better as an organ of government.

“In my office today (Wednesday), we held a strategic session with one of our technical partners to review and demonstrate a solution about to be launched as part of our plans and concerted effort to centralise passport production in the country,” Tunji-Ojo said.

He added that there is no going back in the ambition to leverage technology to lead innovations as a ministry, given its endless opportunities in positioning Nigeria on the path of progress.

Tunji-Ojo earlier this week expressed happiness to see the interior ministry launch the centralization of passport production in the country, as well as the expansion of contactless biometric solutions beyond Canada.

The minister added that in 2025, the reforms will continue, as well as see new directions across the board.
