Hoodlums disappointed in NLC for calling off protest

Hoodlums in Plateau State, particularly in Jos Metropolis, were disappointed when they learned that the planned nationwide protest over the tariff hike has been suspended for the next two weeks.
The shop breakers and looters had positioned themselves at strategic areas around the shops of traders in popular Ahmadu Bello Way and Murtala Way waiting for protesters so they could start looting the shops.
But they were disappointed when they did not see signs of the protesters but the shop owners came around to open their shops and begin their usual daily business.
It later dawned on them that the protest had been canceled, and they disappeared one after the other.
But a human rights activist in the state, Mr. Godwin Iyamu, had earlier predicted that the proposed protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) would not take place judging from NLC’s antecedents of warning protests in the past.
According to him, the NLC wants the Federal Government to call them to a negotiating table to discuss where brown envelopes will change hands.
“That is all. The NLC is selfish and will not think of the mass of the people again.”
